Variegated Tulips

My sister, Marian Keith,  is enamored with variegated tulips, and she's passed the love onto me. Before and after they bloom they look great, which is more than average green-leaved specimens can boast. Many have ivory and green streaked leaves but others are tricolored. (Outstanding!) Here are shots of a few of the prettier ones she grew this year:

The ivory edged foliage of 'China Town' is almost as nice as its green, pink and ivory blooms. It is a mid- to late-spring bloomer.

The vibrant orange-flowered 'Okura' has yellow-edged leaves that look outstanding against the double yellow blooms of 'Yellow Pomponette.'

The Darwin Hybrid 'Yellow Wave' has yellow-striped leaves and bright yellow flowers that look their best midseason.

The modest, midseason, red flowers of 'Fire of Love' are totally upstaged by its tricolored maroon, green and cream leaves.

Even without the flowers 'Fire of Love' has gorgeous leaves that continue to look nice up to late spring or even early summer.

Frothy double pink flowers and palest yellow edged leaves make 'Annelinde'  a knockout tulip.
